Day 1: Pick Up from Kigali and Transfer to Nyungwe National Park with a Tea Experience
Your adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel or residence in Kigali after breakfast. You’ll embark on a scenic journey southwest to Nyungwe National Park, passing through Rwanda’s iconic terraced hillsides. A stopover at Kamegeri Rock in Ruhango District offers an opportunity to appreciate local folklore. A highlight of the day will be the visit to the Nyanza King’s Palace Museum, where you’ll dive into the cultural heritage of Rwanda. You’ll have lunch en route before continuing to Nyungwe. Upon arrival at your accommodation, the EAR Ken Barham Guest House, you will check in and unwind before heading out for a hands-on tea plantation experience. Here, you’ll engage with local farmers, try your hand at tea picking, and capture beautiful photographs of the lush plantations. After the tea experience, you’ll return to your guest house for dinner and a restful evening.

Day 2 : Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk Adventure
After an early breakfast at the guest house, you’ll set off for an exhilarating morning of chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe National Park. The park is home to approximately 400-500 chimpanzees, including a small group in the Cyamudongo Forest. You may hear their distinctive pant-hoots echoing through the forest long before you see them. As you hike, keep an eye out for other wildlife, such as the Ross’ turaco, grey-cheeked hornbill, red-breasted sparrow hawk, and regal sunbird. Following this thrilling encounter with the chimps, you’ll return to the guest house for lunch. In the afternoon, you’ll embark on the canopy walk, a highlight of the park, featuring a suspended bridge 160 meters long and 70 meters above the forest floor. This walk offers stunning views of the rainforest and its inhabitants. After these adventures, you’ll return to the guest house to relax, have dinner, and rest.

Day 3: Colobus Monkey Trekking and Transfer Back to Kigali
On your final day, enjoy an early breakfast before setting out on a trek to see the Colobus monkeys. Once you locate these striking primates, you’ll spend up to an hour observing them in their natural habitat. After this encounter, you’ll return to the guest house to check out and then begin your journey back to Kigali. You will be dropped off at your hotel, residence, or the airport, depending on your travel arrangements. This marks the end of your unforgettable Nyungwe adventure.
